A family story, a converted farm, and a genuine belief that good storage should be simple.
Our family has farmed at Stour Provost for generations. When the chicken barns became redundant, we faced a choice: let the buildings deteriorate, or find them a new purpose.
We chose the harder path. Over two years, Aden and James converted the barns into the high-quality, secure storage and workshop bays you see today — stripping back decades of agricultural use, laying new concrete floors, installing modern electrics, and fitting out each bay to a standard we'd be happy to use ourselves.
We kept what made the barns special — the honest brick, the high eaves, the light that filters through the corrugated roofline — and added what modern users need: power, lighting, security, and 24/7 access.
Stour Spaces opened in 2024, and we haven't looked back.
We grew up here. We know that people in rural Dorset often drive 45 minutes to the nearest storage facility, only to find it over-priced, hard to access, and managed by a call centre a hundred miles away.
We wanted to change that. Stour Spaces is local, personal, and straightforward. When you have a question, you speak to one of us. When something needs fixing, we fix it. When you want to visit before committing, we'll give you a tour.
We're not trying to build a chain. We're trying to build something excellent, here, for the community we live in.
Four values that shape every decision we make.
Security first
Your belongings are your responsibility — we just make sure they're as safe as they can be. CCTV, secure access, and your own lock.
Genuine flexibility
Life changes. We don't lock you into long contracts. Rolling monthly terms, cancel with 30 days' notice — no penalties, no fuss.
Quality over shortcuts
We took the time to do the conversion properly. Good floors, proper electrics, decent lighting. We won't cut corners to save money.
Community at heart
We live here. We want to be useful to our neighbours — not extract money from them. Fair prices, honest dealings, local focus.
Two brothers, one barn conversion, and a shared commitment to getting it right.
Aden Ottewill
Co-founder & Operations
Aden manages the day-to-day running of Stour Spaces — from site maintenance and tenant relations to the ongoing improvement of the facility. Having grown up on the farm, he knows the land and the buildings inside out.
James Ottewill
Co-founder & Development
James led the conversion project, overseeing the construction, planning, and fit-out of the bays. His background in project management meant the whole build came in on time and to the standard we'd promised ourselves.
We're always happy to show people around. No pressure, no hard sell — just a tour and an honest chat about what we offer.
